Roque & Mark Co.'s Annual Thanksgiving Donation in Support of the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Monica
The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica has been working in the community for many years, “doing whatever it takes to support our youth and their families” (Boys & Girls Club). As a club, they work to support, empower, and educate kids in the area, hoping to encourage their members to thrive through all challenges they may face. Ultimately, the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica stands as a resource to help young people reach their full potential.
Roque & Mark has supported the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica for several years, as we are huge proponents of their great work. This year, Roque & Mark’s annual Thanksgiving donation was to the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica; to support their essential programs. Vice President, Marius Markevicius, and Property Management Associate, Miki Dinning, dropped off this donation. They also met with a member of the Boys & Girls Club’s staff while they were there. Marius, an alumnus of the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica himself, is especially dedicated to helping the organization. He briefly described his experience with the organization as a kid, saying:
As a born and raised Santa Monica native, I’ve seen a lot of change since growing up here in the 1970’s/80’s. Sometimes, it’s hard to recognize the Santa Monica of my youth. But every once in a while, you get taken back in time to a place that had a special impact on you, that helped to shape you, and filled you with great experiences and memories. For me, the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Monica is one of those places. The Club was a place where friendships were formed and bonds were made. It was also a place where epic battles and competitions took place on the hardwood, the blacktop, and the game room…well, at least they felt epic at the time… Most importantly, I remember the great people. The friends, teammates, coaches, and staff at the Club who helped shape me into the person I am today.
Recently, the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica received the New York Life Foundation Excellence in Summer Learning Award from the National Summer Learning Association in Washington D.C. They were selected from more than 400 organizations across the United States, a recognition of the great work they have done since their opening in 1944. The award specifically acknowledges the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica’s outstanding summer programs, ability to guide students towards academic achievement, and their promotion of healthy development for low-income youth.
Overall, the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica has greatly contributed to the local community and continues to serve those who need it most. Their dedication and hard work are inspiring, and Roque & Mark is honored to make a contribution that allows them to keep helping Santa Monica’s youth.
