Community Connections at Roque & Mark

At Roque & Mark, our work in property management has always been about more than simply maintaining buildings. It’s about supporting the businesses and organizations that call our properties home and helping them remain thriving parts of the community.

That idea came to life in a small but memorable way at this year’s Lithuanian Days celebration. At their booth, our long time tenant, California Lithuanian Credit Union (CLCU), handed out a variety of small giveaways for children visiting the fair. Their table featured colorful 3D-printed items: plastic snakes, geckos, crabs, and even a bright pink piggy bank.

Behind those giveaways is a story that reflects how local connections take shape.

The pieces were made by Print Love by Aria, a 3D-printing business started by 11-year-old Aria Mendoza. What began as a small creative project quickly grew into something more, thanks in part to a conversation with Greg, a local business owner connected to CLCU. After seeing her work, he placed her first large order—more than $600 worth of items for the event.

For Aria, it was a turning point. For CLCU, it was a chance to encourage a young entrepreneur while adding something thoughtful and unexpected to their presence at the fair.

“We’ve always believed that strong communities are built through everyday connections,” said Marius Markevicius, Co-President of Roque & Mark. “It’s especially meaningful to see our tenants and neighbors show up for one another, and to be part of supporting that in whatever way we can.”

That same sense of connection shows up across our Santa Monica properties. Longtime tenants like KidabilitiesPerformance Prosthetics, and Berkeley Barbers have built lasting relationships through years of hands-on service and presence.

Newer tenants are also adding their own energy to the mix. Offhand Wine Bar, located on the first floor of Roque & Mark’s Stanford West building, has developed a strong following among wine lovers in the Santa Monica area. Known for its curated selections and lively evening atmosphere, the wine bar has also received wider recognition, including a feature in Los Angeles Magazine. The building is also home to Bünda, a personal training studio that brings a focused, community-driven approach to group fitness.

Like many small businesses, our tenants have had to navigate changing circumstances over the past few years. Each experience has looked different, but what’s remained constant is the importance of adaptability and strong local support.

At the end of the day, it’s these relationships between businesses, customers, and neighbors that define our properties, and it’s what continues to make our work meaningful.
