Santa Monica was a sleepy beach town when we first opened our doors on December 1, 1965. Founders Roque (Roque Rodriguez) and Mark (A. “Mark” Markevicius) were friends working in local real estate who wanted to start a new brokerage to serve the growing community.
So they opened a small storefront on Santa Monica Blvd. and personally worked 7 days a week. It was a joy to work with families buying their first homes and hard-working immigrants investing hard-earned dollars toward their family’s futures.
As the city grew, so did the business. While Roque passed away in 1968, the firm continued to play an important role in the local business community.
Today, Santa Monica is a bustling center for start-ups, cultural trends, and travel, and Roque & Mark has also expanded into the next generation. Our aim is to serve and support our community into a bright and prosperous future for all of us living, working, and investing on the Westside.
Roque & Mark is committed to supporting our neighbors and community. Our latest effort is The Yale Street Urban Garden, developed in partnership with Upward Bound House, a non-profit organization supporting the local homeless population and those impacted by mental health issues through permanent supportive housing, vocational training, and employment.
The Yale Street Garden provides a bounty of healthy fruits and vegetables to the Upward Bound House families. The Upward Bound House staff also organizes educational field trips for families to learn about gardening and healthy eating and encourages children to actively participate in the harvesting process. Colorful squash, tasty tomatoes, and big leafy kale are among the fruits and vegetables grown at The Yale Street Garden. If you are in the neighborhood, please stop by to say hello!
